Si Guy dan Lebah
One day a jolly bumble-bee,
Suatu hari lebah yang riang,
In coat of black and yellow,
Bermantel bulu hitam dan kuning,
Got caught inside a window-pane;
Terjebak di balik jendela bening,
The silly little fellow.
Sungguh kasihan si kecil yang malang.
He buzzed and buzzed against the glass,
Menabrak dan menabrak kaca,
To Guy's great enjoyment,
Si Guy bersuka ria,
Who thought to watch this funny thing
Menonton lebah lucu sekali,
Was just the best employment.
Sungguh ia amat sukai.
But soon to touch those gauzy wings,
Menyentuh sayap yang mengepak kencang,
Became Guy's great desire,
Bagi Si Guy sangat menantang,
Although mama had told him that
Walau ibu sudah bilang,
A bee could sting like fire.
Sengatannya sepanas api arang.
But Guy, silly as the bee,
Si Guy pandir seperti lebah,
Paid no heed to mama,
Ucapan ibu ia tak tergugah,
He touched the bee, then gave a howl
Melolong ia kala lebah disentuh,
Which could be heard afar.
Terdengar suaranya hingga jauh.
Mama a soothing poultice mixed,
Ibu meracik obat ramuan,
And on his finger laid.
Di jari Guy ia tempatkan,
"Another time you'll be more wise,"
"Bijaksanalah lain kali",
Was everything she said.
Kata Ibu baik sekali.
